Article: Our commitment to more sustainable materials

Our commitment to more sustainable materials

We make expertly crafted essentials, using more sustainable materials wherever possible. At every step of the product creation process, our team pushes to meet and exceed our sustainability goals, all in an effort to reduce our impact on the planet.

We hold ourselves accountable by scoring each season’s progress against our raw materials index, The Goods Mandate

We are committed to using the most sustainable & lowest impact materials when crafting our apparel and footwear, and we are proud to share our continued progress season over season.

The Goods Mandate has three tiers:

BASIC - conventional materials, with key fabrics like: conventional cotton, conventional leather. For Fall/Winter 2024, 22% of apparel and 18% of footwear are in this category.

BETTER - these materials are better than most, with key fabrics like: Better Cotton, leather sourced from Leather Working Group certified tanneries (Silver-rated). For Fall/Winter 2024, 41% of footwear are in this category.

BEST - the best of the best that's offered on the market, prioritizing plant-based fibers, natural, recycled, & 3rd-party certified,, with key fabrics like: GOTS-certified organic cotton, GRS-certified recycled cashmere, leather sourced from Leather Working Group certified tanneries (Gold-rated), and Responsible Wood Standard-certified merino wool. For Fall/Winter 2024, 78% of apparel and 42% of footwear are in this category.

As a company policy, we are committed to never using fur, non-ethically sourced leather, vinyl, PVC, polyurethane leather, or muled-wool.

The Goods Mandate is one of the many ways we live into our mission to minimize impact on the planet.

Mission is at the core of what we do

  • 3% of net profits from every purchase, after product cost, is donated to the Why Not You Foundation in support of marginalized youth
  • Fall/Winter 24 includes our most sustainable footwear collection yet, as measured by our materials index, The Goods Mandate. 83% of footwear and 78% of apparel was made with "Better" and "Best" materials like responsibly sourced leather, GOTS-certified organic cotton, and responsibly sourced wool
  • We are proudly B-Corp certified, using the power of business as a force for social, environmental, and economic good
